YouTube is currently experimenting with a new collaboration feature that mirrors similar tools found on Instagram and TikTok, signaling the platform’s latest effort to enhance creator connectivity and audience growth. According to a post by a Google employee on the YouTube Help forum, this feature allows creators to tag collaborators directly in their videos, making it easier for viewers to discover and subscribe to those co-creators.
Much like Instagram’s and TikTok’s collaboration tools, YouTube’s version is designed to boost visibility for all involved by highlighting each contributor. When a video features multiple collaborators, viewers will see the main creator’s name followed by an indicator such as “…and more.” Tapping this will open a list of all tagged collaborators, each accompanied by a Subscribe button – encouraging seamless cross-channel discovery.
Currently, the feature is being tested with a small group of trusted creators, but YouTube intends to expand access over time. One of the earliest known examples of this feature in action is a recent upload from MrBeast, which includes collaborations with Mark Rober, Ben Azelart, and the Stoke Twins.

Influencer marketing consultant Lindsey Gamble shared a screenshot on Threads showcasing the feature’s mobile interface, giving a first look at how collaborator names will be presented on a video. While YouTube has yet to provide detailed guidelines, the process is expected to follow the familiar invite-and-approve model used by Instagram and TikTok – ensuring that collaborators must accept an invitation before their name is officially linked to the content.
However, it remains unclear whether collaborators will gain any behind-the-scenes access, such as video analytics or content settings, which are typically restricted to the main uploader. As with most experimental features, YouTube will gather feedback from early testers before deciding on a wider rollout.
If successful, this collaboration tool could become a valuable asset for content creators seeking to grow their audiences through joint projects, shared visibility, and network-driven discovery. By embracing proven social dynamics from competing platforms, YouTube continues to refine its ecosystem for the evolving needs of creators and viewers alike.
Stay tuned, as broader access to the feature may arrive in the coming months once the testing phase concludes.
